Osiyo, first of all, a little background. I was born in Chattanooga, TN and grew up in both extreme northeast Alabama (my mother's side of the family is from Jackson County, Alabama which borders Tennesse and Georgia) and eastern Tennessee as my father worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority while growing up. Ultimately, I ended up graduating from Sevier County High School in eastern Tennessee. With that being said, I have visited the Eastern Band of Cherokee reservation quite a few times as I absolutely love being in the mountains. With that said, I don't understand why some of the businesses in Cherokee have teepees outside as I know from where I was born and raised that the Cherokee did NOT live in TeePees, but in cabins. For example, one of the most famous principal chiefs of the Cherokee Nation, John Ross, was born and raissed just a few miles from where I was born in Chattanooga/East Ridge, TN. Chief Ross's CABIN has been refurbished and STILL stands to this very day in the Rossville, Georgia area which is just across the Tennessee state line. Anyway, I didn't mean any disrespect by asking this question, but I don't understand the teepees being outside of businesses in downtown Cherokee, NC. I've heard rumors that the teepees are put there by white folks who own the businesses and these white people are supposedly from places like Indiana and Ohio. Just needed a little clairification.
